"Voices of the Sky"
My plan
Take three pictures of sunsets or sunrises and glue sheet music onto the matte board.
Unedited Photos
For these photos, I was originally intending to take pictures of the sunsets and sunrises around Durango, but I became very busy and was inside playing music whenever the sun was setting and due to the time change, I was driving when ever the sun was rising. So, I had to end up using some pictures from over the summer and some pictures from a few weeks ago. While some picture are from this week's work, I did not like them as much as some I took from Maine.
Edited Photos
I edited all of these photos in Lightroom and found out that I could make the colors look more like how I originally saw them. At first, I just started out trying to understand lightroom better, but then once I worked with it more, I decided that I really like editing my photos in lightroom and continued editing all my photos that way. After I edited multiple photos, I didn't want to change them or add my music aspect into the photos themselves so after I chose three pictures that I liked the best, I taped sheet music to the matte board.
Final Photos
This piece has three pictures of sunrises/sunsets in a row and music on the matte board that surrounds the pictures. The first picture, starting from the left, shows a red sun that is reflecting on the water. The second picture has a bigger variety of colors in it and the colors in the sky are less bright. The third picture is a very yellow sun setting behind a hill. The top part of the sky is blue and it looks as though the picture is taken from the water. I like how all of the photos show different colors in the sky because to me, it reminds me of how everytime you look at the sky, it appears different each time. No sunset or sunrise is the same and yet, it always gives you the same satisfied any happy feeling no matter how the sky looks. As I was deciding how to incorporate music into my finished product, I found some old music with the title "Voices of the Sky" and thought that it fitted perfectly with the pictures I took. I am honestly very happy with how my pictures turned out and as I look at my final product, it makes me feel proud and happy to savor the colors of the sky.
